Pre-Kindergarten

4/23/2010 - Morning Pre-Kindergarten classes for fall 2010 are full at this time. There is still space available in the afternoon class.

Children must be going into Kindergarten in the fall of 2011, which means they must be 4 by August 1, 2010. See the Pre-K skills Month by Month for curriculum. We use Handwriting Without Tears to introduce our students to the alphabet. Students will use a Handwriting Without Tears workbook as well as use wood pieces, and clay to form letters. Handwriting Without Tears is also used by the Greenfield Central Schools. Class size is limited to 16 and we have 2 teachers in each class to give your child lots of attention. Parents may choose between morning (9-11) or afternoon (11:45-1:45). Morning classes fill quickly, so parents are encouraged to sign up early if they desire a morning class.

3's & 4's

This class is for children who are 3 on August 1, 2010, but will turn 4 before January 1, 2011. Children should be comfortable being away from home for two hours, 3 days a week. Classes will include a morning opening in which they work on learning the days of the week and months of the year. Children will work on recognizing the letters of the alphabet and using wooden blocks to form them. They will also work on colors, shapes, and numbers. There will be a craft made almost every day. Children will receive individual attention during this time while others play with toys that rotate monthly. Time in our fenced in playground or in the large muscle room in the basement, a story and a small snack round out a typical day. This class meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-11. Class size is limited to 12 with 2 teachers.

3's

This class is for children who are 3 by September 1, 2010. This group does most of the things the 3's and 4's do. However, crafts are a little easier for less mature hands. It meets two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11. Class size is limited to 12 with 2 teachers.

While we would prefer that our students be potty trained, we understand that you cannot know in March if your child will be potty trained by September. We do allow pullups (and make no mistake, those are diapers!) However, frequent accidents that detract from the experience for our other children may require that your child wait a bit longer before starting preschool.
